Hikers will be in their element in this region. The numerous hiking routes are dotted with watercourses, coloured mixed forests, traditional dry stone walls, churches, chapels, and you can always rely on good food and regional gastronomy even in small villages. The “Chemins Retrouvés”, 17 forgotten hiking trails, which have been compiled by locals in a guide, begin at the small town of St.-Jean-de-Laur, a few steps away from us. And we are always on hand to give recommendations to all those who want to go further.
If you want to get around faster, the region can also be explored by mountain bike, racing bike or e-bike. The hilly landscape offers best conditions for both excursions and professional training. Racing cyclists will love the well asphalted roads and if you prefer to ride offroad there are a lot of small, idyllic trails guiding through forests and along rivers. HORSEBACK RIDING & CANOEING
A special feature of the Domaine de Gayfié is the possibility to accommodate horses and their owners in the best possible way. As a former stud farm, we have large paddocks and feed exclusively hay from our own meadows. The Quercy region is adapted to the needs of horses and riders with numerous water facilities.
The nearby rivers Lot and Célé are a popular destination for canoeists. While the slow flowing Lot is particularly suitable for relaxed trips with family or friends, the Célé attracts more demanding canoeists. On both rivers, you will pass old villages built on the waterfront as well as stone bridges and get the rare opportunity to watch kingfishers and other birds.

CLIMBING & DIVING IN CAVES
The region of Quercy is known worldwide for its stalactite caves with huge stalactites and stalagmites. In the Gouffre de Padirac you pass an underground river on a boat. The caves of Pech Merle, Chauvet, Foissac and Lascaux are famous for their ancient wall paintings. More than fifty of the surrounding caves are filled with water, making Quercy the Mecca for divers. Many dive sites have their own access roads, which make it easy to transport the equipment.
